About IT System Development – Manager
A Systems Development Manager bridges the gap between high-level business strategy and technical execution by overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of an organization’s information systems. This role involves leading a team of developers and engineers to build scalable, secure, and efficient software solutions.
What You Will Do
- Team Leadership & Talent Management: Recruit, hire, and mentor software developers, systems engineers, and analysts. This includes setting performance goals, conducting code reviews, and fostering a culture of innovation.
- Project Oversight: Coordinate the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from inception to completion. Managers set project milestones, manage budgets, and ensure deliverables meet quality standards and timelines.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Meet with department heads and clients to identify business requirements and translate them into functional technical specifications.
- Strategic Planning: Align technology investments with organizational goals. This involves evaluating emerging technologies and recommending upgrades to maintain a competitive edge.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee system performance, security, and disaster recovery. They are often responsible for incident management and troubleshooting critical outages.
Key Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering is typically required.
- Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C++), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), and development methodologies like Agile or Scrum.
- Managerial Skills: Strong project management, strategic thinking, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience: Most roles require at least 5 years of experience in software development, with a proven track record in leadership.
- Communication: Strong English communication skills (written and spoken).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and move for extended periods, including walking through office, and warehouse spaces.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for computer work, sketching, and handling material samples.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of materials, samples, and product prototypes.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally for supplier visits, trade shows, and design development meetings.
- Visual acuity to assess product details, colors, and finishes accurately.
- Ability to adapt to various work environments, including office settings, and warehouses.
- Occasional bending, kneeling, or reaching to inspect products or review samples.
