About Factory Manager
Oversees all aspects of production, including planning, manufacturing (carpentry, upholstery, finishing), and quality control to meet deadlines and cost targets. They manage staff, maintain machinery, enforce safety standards, and optimize workflows to ensure efficient production of furniture.
What You Will Do
- Production Management: Plan, schedule, and direct daily operations to meet customer orders and deadlines. Oversee the entire production process from cutting/milling to final assembly and finishing.
- Quality Assurance (QA/QC): Enforce strict quality standards to ensure finished furniture meets company, technical, and customer requirements.
- Operational Efficiency: Implement lean manufacturing principles, minimize waste, and improve productivity.
- Material & Inventory Control: Manage raw materials inventory, reduce waste, and coordinate with procurement to prevent shortages.
- Maintenance: Schedule routine maintenance and repairs for machinery and tools to minimize downtime.
- Team Leadership: Hire, train, supervise, and motivate production staff, including carpenters and supervisors.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce health and safety (OSHA/ISO) regulations on the factory floor.
Key Qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience (often 5+ years) in factory management within the furniture or woodworking industry.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of furniture materials (wood, MDF, metal, fabric) and production processes (finishing, upholstery).
- Skills: Strong leadership, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Tools: Proficient in production scheduling software and MS Office.
- Education: A degree in Industrial Management, Engineering, or a related field is typically required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and move for extended periods, including walking through office and warehouse spaces.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for computer work, sketching, and handling material samples.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally for supplier visits, trade shows, and design development meetings.
- Visual acuity to assess product details, colors, and finishes accurately.
- Ability to adapt to various work environments, including office settings and warehouses.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
